Dr. Matthew “Toby” Cox grew up in Connecticut. He received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Colby College in Maine. From there he headed west and graduated in 1995 with his M.D. from St. Louis University. He completed a three year pediatrics residency at Northwestern University in Chicago. After which, he headed to Utah where he worked in private practice in Layton and completed a Masters in Public Health at the University of Utah. In 2001, Doctors’ Cox and Johnson and Dallen Ormond hatched a plan to start their own pediatric office and Families First Pediatrics opened its doors in October of that year. Dr. Cox is board certified in pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. His wife is a neonatologist at Primary Children’s and they have 3 daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys ice hockey, mountain biking, snowboarding and recovering from injuries sustained from these activities. He also enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and is a self-proclaimed music geek.
